Bio

Diane Davis is a fine artist who mixes color palettes to provide emotional density through textures and form. Her ongoing visual exploration of the urban environment is acknowledged for its range and scope. Two paintings, Sunrise Dancers and Log Cabin, are in the permanent collections of the Mount Claire Museum, New Jersey and in The Schomburg Center for Research and Black Culture, New York, NY.

She has exhibited nationally. Among the many museum and gallery exhibitions to her credit are the Hampton Museum, Hampton, Virginia; the MoCada Museum, Brooklyn, NY; The Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts, New York, NY; The Longwood Art Gallery, Bronx, New York; and The National Black Fine Arts Show, New York, NY, 2008.

Ms. Davis was commissioned by Affinity Children’s Village (formerly, the Bronx Health Plan) in Dobbs Ferry, NY; the Bridgefield Civics League, Bronx, New York; and Riverbank State Park, New York, NY, and continues to explore opportunities to share her work.

The work has received considerable attention in documentaries, such as “NINE BY FIVE: Nine artists. Five boroughs. One city,” in local-news television broadcasts, and in the print media, such as the New York Times, the Daily News, and the Journal of the Print World. Her work has been published in 365 Days of Black History in Praise of Women, Psychology (John Wiley & Sons, 2002), Essentials of Sociology (Allyn & Bacon, 2002), and The Blackburn Printmaking Workshop Portfolio, 2000.

Diane Davis a native of Paxton, Illinois and a longtime resident of the Bronx, NY. She earned an Associates Degree in Fine Art from New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). Currently she is  participating in the artist-in-residency program at Chashama, in New York, NY.
